The Big Plastic Count: Join Polarquest to Monitor Plastic Pollution!
From March 31 to April 6, 2025, Switzerland will host The Big Plastic Count, an initiative that originated in the UK and has become the largest collective survey on household plastic waste. Now expanded internationally, this initiative allows participants to track their plastic consumption for a week, collecting crucial data to urge governments and industries to reduce single-use plastic production.
Why Take Part?
In 2024, over 220,000 people participated in The Big Plastic Count, recording a staggering 4.6 million pieces of plastic waste in just seven days. These numbers highlight the vast amount of waste we generate daily and the urgent need to improve recycling infrastructure. Plastic pollution doesn’t just affect oceans and rivers—it breaks down into microplastics that contaminate the air, soil, and even our bodies. To address this crisis, we need concrete data and active participation from everyone.
The Big Plastic Count makes data collection engaging, turning it into an exciting challenge to use as little plastic as possible! Polarquest is proud to take part in The Big Plastic Count to raise awareness of plastic pollution’s impact on polar regions and beyond. Our team will track its own plastic use and promote sustainable solutions through our channels, demonstrating how small daily actions can make a big difference.
How to Participate?
Taking part is easy: from March 31 to April 6, count every piece of plastic packaging you use and log the data on the official platform, which provides all the necessary tools. Click this link to sign up: www.thebigplasticcount.ch.
With your contribution, we can gather vital information to push for stronger policies on plastic waste management.
A Global Problem, A Collective Solution
Reducing plastic pollution is a challenge that concerns us all. Neither incineration nor recycling alone can solve the problem—we need to cut production and promote reusable alternatives. The Big Plastic Count is a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and pressure governments to enforce stricter regulations on single-use plastic.
Visit The Big Plastic Count’s official website to sign up and do your part and follow Polarquest on social media to experience this journey with us!
Together, we can make a difference!
